Carol Freer
Dr. Carol Freer, M.D. is a board-certified internist and infectious disease specialist with an M.S. in Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control from the University of Virginia.
She is presently an associate professor of Medicine Emeritus, Division of Infectious Diseases at Penn State Health, Hershey Medical Center where she previously served as that institution's first female Chief Medical Officer. Prior to her appointment to the faculty at Penn State Hershey, Dr. Freer served for many years as the Hospital Epidemiologist and Infectious Disease specialist at Hanover and Gettysburg Hospitals. Dr. Freer is a Senior Medical Consultant for Saxton and Stump, Lawyers and Consultants in Lancaster, PA, where she is an in-house expert for infection and infection prevention matters.
She graduated from the University of Delaware where she serves on the executive committee of the Advisory Council to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Carol has one daughter, Elizabeth, a Certified Physician Assistant, living in Charleston, SC. Dr. Freer lives in Hanover and Easton, MD with her partner, Dr. Veasey.
